Quality &
Sustainability
Quality
You can see and feel the excellent quality of our crowns. Our four-stage manufacturing process represents not only highest efficiency and independence. With sophisticated processes and 100 % final inspection we ensure the first-class functionality, aesthetics and haptics of every single crown. This is how we support you in turning your customers into fans of your brand. Our understanding of quality:
Highest quality raw materials
Steel, laquers, sealing compounds, printing inks – all our raw materials are from certified partners in Germany and Europe. Our raw materials meet the current requirements and specifications for food contact material.
High-Tech
Interlinked production processes, fully automated camera-assisted quality controls, robots, a central lacquering supply and a modern IT infrastructure ensure efficiency and consistently high quality.
Trained specialists
We are working with specialised and experienced skilled workers in every process stage. Individual learnings on a regular basis ensures that in-depth expertise is systematically developed.
Internal quality assurance
Selected materials as well as automated in-process controls and regularly random sampling rule out printing- punching- and sealing defects certainty.
Inspection and certification
Our products and production processes are inspected in all qualification phases carefully. We adhere to the standards of the:
- STLB - Special Technical Delivery and Purchase Conditions for Crown Caps
- Cetie - International Technical Centre for Bottling and Associated Packaging
- MEBAK - Central European Brewing Technology Analysis Commission
Beside the automatic inspection system which every crown cork have to go through, we make several additional tests of raw material as well as finished product in our in-house lab.
Environmentally Conscious Production and Social Responsibility
We meet the guidelines of international standards like
to ensure that our production processes are sustainable and environmentally conscious.
Furthermore, our corporate philosophy is characterised by social and ethnical responsibility:
Within the scope of our Sedex-membership (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) we are regularly audited according to SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). That’s how we ensure that we meet all corresponding standards towards our customers, business partners, suppliers and employees, act responsibly and support transparency within the supply chain.
Sustainability
Decades of expertise, efficient production and logistics concepts and innovative technologies help us to reduce our and your carbon foodprint. For the benefit of the climate, the environment and the people in our region we at Brüninghaus have been continuously working on our transformation to more sustainable business practices since 2021.
More efficient logistic
Short delivery distances and our own rail connection: as the delivery distances and consequently the delivery costs be viewed more often critically, many of our customers come from nearby regions. Most of our steel is delivered by rail. By this we shift approx. 600 trucks to rail each year.
Saving Resources
Reduced materials consumption + material reduction: modern technologies and automated processes ensure optimal utilisation of material consumption. The continuous reduction in the sheet thickness of our crown corks to the current levels of 0.22 mm, 0.20 mm and 0.18 mm, while maintaining the same functionality, already enables us a reduction in steel usage. We are currently working with our partners to further reduce sheet thicknesses to further improve our carbon footprint in the future by reducing material usage.
Energy Modernisation
Energy efficiency + photovoltaics: We are continuously optimising our energy consumption by establishing a systematic energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001. In 2020, all production halls were converted to LED lighting. In 2025, we installed a PV system on the roofs of our production and warehouse. We ensure environmentally conscious production processes by complying meeting the standards of FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001.
Local Heating Supply for Versmold
Since 2023 we use the industrial waste heat for local heating supply in several public institutions in Versmold. The heat generated in this way is used to heat a school, the fire station, the youth centre and an accommodation for refugees. This saves approx. 800.000 kWh of heating energy and 230 tons of CO2 annually.
Continous Improvement
The future lies in the efficient and responsible use of resources. In cooperation with our business partners, we continously work to minimise the use of raw materials while maintaining functionality. We react quickly to changes in the market and not only follow trends but actively shape them. As a Sedex member, we rely on entrepreneurial vision and high ethical and social standards.
